We are a small, locally-owned planning and project management business, focused on development work in Bellingham and the surrounding small cities. We work for private property owners, developers in the for-profit and non-profit sectors, and government agencies, with a focus on urban infill projects.

Ali Taysi
Owner/Principal, 20+ years at AVT
A Bellingham native, Ali Taysi returned to Whatcom County after spending 4 years in Southern California attending university. After working in development consulting at a real estate law firm, Ali discovered a clear need for land use permitting and project management services in the Pacific Northwest and founded AVT Consulting in 2004. Ali knows firsthand how complicated development and land use processes can be. He brings over 20 years of local project management and hands-on permitting experience to the business and can guide projects through all required processes.
Andrea Hemley
Office Manager/Project Manager, 10 years at AVT
Andrea Hemley was born and raised in Bellingham. She studied at the University of Washington and Western Washington University before joining AVT. She enjoys spending time with family and taking long walks on Bellingham’s trail system with her dogs, Brodie and Finley.
Jack Bloss
Senior Project Manager, 6 years at AVT
Jack Bloss was born and raised in the central valley of California before moving to Vancouver, WA. He then moved to Bellingham to attend Western Washington University and earn a B.A. in Geography with a certificate in Geographic Information Science. Jack loves his wife, Jessie, as well as their flock of ducks and chickens. He enjoys meteorology, playing guitar, reading, and anything competitive.
Riley Marcus
Senior Project Manager, 5 years at AVT
Riley Marcus grew up in Bellingham, Washington and recently returned home after living in Hood River, Oregon for the last six years. She attended Western Washington University where she earned a B.A. in Urban Planning and Sustainable Development with minors in Cultural Anthropology and Geography. Riley enjoys spending time with family, riding her bike, and hiking with her dog.
Wyatt Rothenbuhler
Project Manager, 2 years at AVT
Wyatt Rothenbuhler grew up in Bellingham, Washington. She studied at Washington State University, where she earned a bachelor’s degree in Entrepreneurship. During her time there, she discovered her passion for creativity and business development. Wyatt enjoys spending her free time with family and friends, as well as her four pets—Honey Lou, Diesel, Luna, and Toby.
